Ambulatory Care Center Welcomes First Outpatients to its Digestive and Liver Disease Clinics

The Ambulatory Care Center (ACC) recently welcomed the first outpatients to its digestive (GI) and liver disease clinics which have moved from their previous location at Hamad General Hospital (HGH). Digestive (GI) endoscopy procedures have also relocated to the Ambulatory Care Center.

With a focus on treating patients with digestive system disorders, these are the second round of clinics to commence outpatient services at the Ambulatory Care Center and follow the start of podiatry outpatient services earlier this year. Audiology and ENT outpatient clinics are also planned to move to the ACC along with a pre-admission anesthesia clinic and surgical services.

This gradual introduction of outpatient and surgical services at the Ambulatory Care Center precedes the official opening of the three new Hamad bin Khalifa Medical City hospitals. When fully operational, the ACC will offer patients an exciting new approach to surgical and clinical care in Qatar, providing day care surgery, some inpatient surgical care and clinical care delivered in the most technologically advanced operating theaters and treatment rooms.

Commenting on the move of the digestive (GI) and liver disease clinics and digestive (GI) endoscopy procedures from HGH to the new ACC, Dr. Saad Al Kaabi, Senior Consultant Medical Affairs and Head of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at ACC said: “Both myself and the rest of our gastroenterology and endoscopy clinical teams are excited about the relocation to the Ambulatory Care Center. The facility is state of the art and will enable us to provide our patients with the best possible care.”

He added: “In addition to continuing to provide patients with our usual high standard of clinical care, we will also continue to build upon recent departmental successes such as introducing new technology and therapies. The new facility will provide and encourage active participation of fellows in a program that offers comprehensive state of the art clinical training. It will also provide fully functional research areas to enable the development of the expertise and knowledge required to ensure excellent patient care.”
